K12,000 Up for Grabs in PNG’s Biggest Homemade Product Competition

Lily Magazine Homemade Competition is Back On!

December 18, 2024

Lily Magazine’s annual HOMEMADE Competition is back, offering a life-changing opportunity for Papua New Guinean microbusinesses. With a grand cash prize of K12,000, this year’s competition is set to uncover PNG’s most innovative, original, and locally made products.

What’s the Competition About?
The HOMEMADE Competition is a search for exceptional products made by Papua New Guineans using at least some PNG-sourcedmaterials or ingredients. The categories include:

  • Wearable (e.g., jewelry, clothing)
  • Useful (e.g., household items, crafts)
  • Edible (e.g., food, snacks, natural remedies)

From handcrafted coconut shell earrings to last year’s winning honey, ginger, and lemon cough drops, the competition showcases the incredible potential of PNG-made goods.

How to Enter

To enter, simply email lily@moore.com.pg or contact via social media (@lilypngmagazine on FB/IG) and submit:

  1. Photos of you with your product
  2. A description of the product (materials used, how it works, and what makes it stand out)
  3. Your personal details: full name, age, gender, contact info, and any challenges faced

The deadline for entries is January 8, 2025 – so don’t miss out!

Incredible Prizes and Mentorship

This year’s competition offers K20,000 in cash prizes:

  • 1st Prize: K12,000 cash + business growth resources
  • 2nd Prize: K5000 cash
  • 3rd Prize: K2500 cash

Winners will also receive professional website development or equivalent marketing resources (popup banners, A-frame signs), business setup support, and professional mentorship through tailored workshops. All 15 finalists will benefit from financial
training, product development opportunities, and access to retail partnerships
with Maku Gifts (PNG) and Kulture Hub (Cairns & Online).

A Life-Changing Opportunity

Last year’s grand prize winner, Alma Napo, turned herbee farm’s ingredients into all-natural cough drops. This competition aims to bring similar success to more PNG entrepreneurs. If you have a product that stands out, this is your chance to shine!

Let’s celebrate the creativity, ingenuity, and hard work of Papua New Guinea’s homemade businesses!
